— -- Mitt Romney is set to pick up more delegates Tuesday in the Oregon primary. He is only  171 short of the 1,144 he needs to wrap up the GOP presidential nomination, and 25 are at stake in Oregon.

There's also a GOP presidential primary in Nebraska, but the allocation of the state's 32 delegates won't be decided until the state convention July 14. Voters in Nebraska will decide who Democrat Bob Kerrey's Republican opponent will be in the U.S. Senate race.

Romney will try to change the subject from same-sex marriage to the deficit and federal spending with a speech in Des Moines, Iowa. Iowa is a general election battleground state that President Barack Obama won in 2008. Romney also has a fundraiser Tuesday in Lake Forest, Ill.

Obama taped an appearance on ABC's "The View" on Monday and the show will air this morning at 11 o'clock. The president will be at the U.S. Capitol this morning to speak at the National Peace Officers Memorial Service -- an annual ceremony honoring law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty in the previous year.

And then there is this: The John Edwards trial goes on — and on, and there's a chance the defense could put Edwards' oldest daughter,  Cate, on the stand Tuesday.
