Transcript for Hundreds of Westerners Join Middle East Jihadists
It happened in the southern region of Afghanistan. Now to terror fares at home together. 300 military add visers are being sent into Iraq. Those militants are on the move are trying to recruit fighters and they want some of them from right here in the U.S. Why? Once they have the training, they would have their passports to come right back. Here's ABC's chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross tonight. Reporter: U.s. Officials are increasingly concerned about the shrewd and slick social media campaign being run by Isis to recruit us and european followers to fight not only in Syria and Iraq, but perhaps one day the us. There are drive-by shootings complete with English subtitles, and catchy, phrases. Let's go for jihad, let's go. Reporter: One new video today featured a supposed recruit from Britain. And another from Australia. Reporter: The kind of men authorities say have the right documents to travel freely to the us. So even if they're not Americans, we have to be concerned about people coming into this country and creating terroristic attacks. Reporter: By some estimates, more than 2,000 westerners are believed to have answered the jihad call. Including about a hundred from the us, such as this man, seen in an earlier Isis propaganda video before reportedly being killed in battle. We'll bring the right of Islam to rule all of the entire world, over Europe and America. Reporter: U.s. Authorities have been on alert. Just today, two Texas men were indicted for allegedly planning to travel overseas to join jihad and support terrorist activities. If you have information on this man. Reporter: The man behind it all, is a rarely photographed 43-year-old Iraqi with a $10 us reward on his head, known as Abu Dua, or al-baghdadi. When al-baghdadi announced the goals of his group in 2012, he issued his own direct threat to the us about a second and worse 9/11. Reporter: And with the reported seizure of hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold in Iraq. We know you'll stay on it. Thank you.
