— -- Ansel Elgort may only be 20, but he's a bona fide star. In the past year alone, he has been featured in and starred in hits like "Divergent," "The Fault in Our Stars" and "Men, Women & Children."

But with fame comes celebrity and a mass of screaming fans, something Elgort is dealing with.

"It's been since the summer," he told ABC News last month at the NBA All-Star Game in New York City. "’Fault’ came out in June and before that, no one knew who I was. Now people recognize me. It's really weird."

He admitted there are some downsides to being recognizable. "I'll be on the subway and having a bad day and someone is looking at me. Then they say, 'I love that movie," and it causes a big scene," he said, though adding he can't be mad at someone enjoying his work. "But then, the upsides are I get to [play here at Madison Square Garden for the Celebrity NBA Game.]"

As for negative social media, he says, it just "has to be water off your shoulders."

He also plans to stay in New York, where he was born and raised. "For me, I wouldn't want to go to a place that's not my home and make all new friends," he said. "I just got a place in Brooklyn and want to kind of stay out of it. Just be myself. Tonight I'm going to go home and be true to myself."

As for his first Celebrity Game at the Garden, he said, "I was definitely nervous. I just wanted to play team basketball and our team won, so that's good. The biggest highlight was when I walked out on to the court at the Garden and couldn't get the smile off my face.

"I walked over to Common and was like, 'This is insane, we are playing at the Garden!'"
