Brooke Shields Reveals Childhood Secrets in New Memoir
Brooke Shields has released her latest book.
— -- Brooke Shields has released her latest book.
In the memoir titled "There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me," the 49-year-old actress reveals some surprising secrets from her childhood.
In an interview with NEW YOU magazine, Shields sat down to discuss the contents of her book including her mother's alcohol addiction, her struggles with insecurity, and the pressures of being thin in Hollywood.
“We all fall prey to it,” she told the publication. “Each time I do Broadway, I get skin, bone and muscle, and I feel on top of the world. There’s a power and control that you feel. Plus, you get rewarded for it. Everyone is like, 'Oh my God, you look so great!' So I fall prey to it, too. It’s just, I can’t live at that level. I can’t work out, dance that much, eat that little, and go on fumes today. I could when I was in my twenties.”
This is Shields’ second memoir following her New York Times bestseller “Down Came the Rain.”
