— -- Celine Dion broke down into tears while paying tribute to her late husband, René Angélil, in a special memorial at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace Wednesday night.

The singer took the stage during the "Celebration of Life" tribute, which was livestreamed for fans around the globe.

"Let me start by saying good evening good friends," Dion, 47, said. "Rene, the love of my life, would be so happy to know we are here together. I feel the love in this room."

The singer also explained why it was important to pay tribute to Angélil in Las Vegas.

"This is my home away from home," she explained. "At the same time I'm supposed to feel extremely comfortable being home and right now I'm not sure how comfortable I feel."

Reflecting on her late husband, Dion continued: "René never hated anyone. Is it possible someone loves everybody? I don't think so. But he never told me a person he disliked. Time was precious to him. He loved life so much, so very much."

"On behalf of my family, thank you again for being here for this beautiful tribute of mon amour, René, I love you, so much," Dion ended her speech. "Merci. Goodnight."

Angélil, who was married to the famed singer since 1994, died Jan. 14 after a long battle with throat cancer. They have three sons.
