— -- As part of a 201-day-long homage to its groundbreaking paranormal series "The X-Files," Fox has offered up its first sneak peek of agents Mulder and Scully back in action.

And of course, they're packing flashlights.

To prepare fans for the return of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as the paranormal activity investigating FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in a limited-run Fox event starting in January, the network posted to social media a 201-episode challenge to fans. Each day, starting Tuesday with the series' 1993 pilot, X-philes will be able to watch one episode a day, in order. That's just enough episodes on Netflix or DVD to lead up to the upcoming shows.

And that's where the new footage comes in. In a video montage of all the classic cases the pair tackled as FBI agents tracking the sometimes supernatural, we glimpse a new shot of Duchovny seemingly silhouetted by a UFO's lights, and then he and Anderson, storming into a dark room, guns and flashlights drawn.

"I believe what we're looking for is in the X-Files, and am more certain than ever that the truth is in there," Mulder says, playing on the show's opening title card, "The truth is out there."

The six new "X-Files" episodes kick-off with a two-part event in January.
