— -- YouTube musical sensation Lindsey Stirling said she credits "being different" when it comes to her large following and success of her viral videos.

"The thing is, [being different] that's why people come to my channel," Stirling said in a Skype interview with "Good Morning America" co-anchor Rebecca Jarvis during "GMA's" 40 for 40 live stream event, commemorating the show's 40th anniversary. "That’s why they come...where else will you see a dancing electro-violinist?

"My viewers love to see something unique," she said.

Stirling, who reportedly made $6 million last year, opened up to Jarvis that it wasn't an easy road getting to where she is today -- saying that at one time, her parents couldn't afford both dance and violin lessons for her as a child.

"Working hard for something makes you appreciate it more," Stirling said. "I knew that if I stopped practicing, I'd lose my lessons."

Stirling said she hopes her experience motivates young artists who aspire a similar success.

"Life is kind and it will give you a chance," she said.
