Kristin Cavallari posted this photo to her Instagram account with the caption: "Last night was the second time I've put makeup on in over 5 weeks and left the house (besides the grocery store and taking Cam to school). Even though I shed a few tears, it was a really nice night and felt good to be out. 2015 brought my sweet, baby girl but it also took my brother's life. Hoping for no extreme highs and lows this year. Happy new year, everyone," Jan. 1, 2016.

— -- The end of 2015 was difficult for Kristin Cavallari.

The former reality TV star's brother, Michael, was found dead in early December, days after he went missing.

Last night, she and her husband, NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, stepped out for dinner, marking the second time she's gone out in weeks.

"Last night was the second time I've put makeup on in over 5 weeks and left the house (besides the grocery store and taking Cam to school)," Cavallari wrote on Instagram, along with the above photo. "Even though I shed a few tears, it was a really nice night and felt good to be out."

Cavallari, 28, and Cutler, 32, have been married since 2013. In November, they welcomed their third child together, a daughter named Saylor James.

"Hoping for no extreme highs and lows this year," Cavallari continued. "Happy New Year, everyone."
