Maksim Chmerkovskiy apologizes to 'Dancing With the Stars' partner Vanessa Lachey

The pro missed Monday's episode because of "personal issues."

— -- "Dancing With the Stars" pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy has apologized to his partner Vanessa Lachey for missing Monday's show.

In Chmerkovskiy's absence, Lachey performed her dance to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" with pro Alan Bersten.

The duo earned a score of 23 out of 30.

"As you are all aware, I had to leave the show last week to take care of some personal issues," Chmerkovskiy tweeted Wednesday. "I take full responsibility for my absence and want to apologize to my partner Vanessa. We are both looking forward to dancing for our fans next week!"

Added a "Dancing With the Stars" spokesperson: "Maks and Vanessa are returning to rehearsals and will be dancing together on next week's show.”

Lachey has not yet responded to Chmerkovskiy's mea culpa.

"Dancing With the Stars" will airs on Monday evenings at 8 p.m. ET.
