— -- The Academy Awards honored some of Hollywood's greatest stars who passed away during an "In Memoriam" tribute.

Singer Dave Grohl performed an acoustic rendition of the Beatles' "Blackbird" as photos and videos of the late Hollywood stars played on the screen behind him.

Among the Hollywood icons remembered in the video tribute segment were actors Christopher Lee and Alan Rickman, director Wes Craven and composer James Horner.

As a clip of the late Leonard Nimoy appeared on the screen, his voice rang over the speakers, saying, "I have been, and always shall be, your friend."
