It's 'Star Wars' Force Friday
Today, you can get your hands on new "Star Wars" toys. Get all the details!
— -- "Star Wars" fans all over the world were treated to a global unveiling of all new toys and other merchandise from the upcoming "The Force Awakens" film during a rolling "unboxing" event staged in dozens of cities in countries around the world.
The event, and a midnight sneak peeks of the toys, preceded what's being billed as "Force Friday": the day when fans can get their hands on the new products.
Already a hit from his debut at Comic-Con San Diego in August, the ball-shaped droid BB-8 is making headlines again, thanks to newly revealed scaled-down versions of the plucky astromech droids that work just like their bigger, big-screen star counterpart.
Two versions will be made available. A remote-controlled BB-8 from Hasbro will be sold exclusively by Target for $79.99, while Sphero, the company that helped bring the 'bot to life onscreen, will be selling a wireless device-controlled version for $149.99.
"Good Morning America" took part in the fun Thursday, revealing the LEGO Millennium Falcon, in addition to the latter BB-8, and even Jimmy Kimmel got the chance to reveal four items during his late-night show, including Chewbacca Crocs. "I'm calling them ChewCroc-as, I don't know why they don't," he joked.
He also revealed helmets based on the First Order Stormtroopers and, with Guillermo's help, revealed the voice of Adam Driver's baddie Kylo Ren via his talking helmet.
A full guide to all the exclusive goodies -- and where to get them -- is available on Star Wars.com.
"The Force Awakens," which stars Driver, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o and Daisy Ridley, among others, will hit theaters Dec. 18. The J.J. Abrams film is being released by the Disney Co., the parent of ABC News.
