Anne Heche Engaged to Cameraman
May 31 -- Actress Anne Heche is engaged to a cameraman she met during the filming of a documentary about her former flame Ellen DeGeneres.
Heche and DeGeneres were together for three years before they split last August.
Heche's fiancé is cameraman Coleman Laffoon, whom she met during the filming of a documentary about DeGeneres' return to stand-up comedy after her sitcom Ellen was canceled.
No Date Set
No wedding date has been set, but Heche's publicist confirmed the engagement. Heche, 32, was seen recently scouting out wedding gowns at the Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue.
In March of 2000, Heche directed DeGeneres in HBO's If These Walls Could Talk 2, in which DeGeneres and her girlfriend, played by Sharon Stone, attempt to have a child.
At the premiere, the then-couple talked about how happy they were together.
"We're very lucky women that we get to have what we have," said Heche.
"It's a celebration every single day," said DeGeneres. "It's kind of disgusting and crazy that we're like, 'oh, we're so lucky,' every day."
"Yeah, we're so lucky, we're so lucky," repeated Heche. But things quickly soured for what was widely considered Hollywood's strongest gay couple, and shortly after their breakup Heche was hospitalized briefly when she turned up on a stranger's doorstep, babbling incoherently.
Heche Linked to ‘Mystery Man’ After Split
Although the pair never publicly discussed the reason for their breakup, it has been heavily rumored that Heche decided to go back to heterosexuality.
Rumors of Heche's relationship with Laffoon, alternately identified is "Coley" Laffoon, began circulating shortly after, although his identity was known only as a non-actor who had worked with her.
He also reportedly worked with Heche on the upcoming film John Q.
Heche has starred in Six Days, Seven Nights; Wag the Dog; and the 1998 remake of Psycho, among others.
DeGeneres, 43, will host the Emmy Awards in September. She will also star in a new CBS sitcom. ABCNEWS Radio contributed to this report.
