December 11, 2000 -- No one can say that Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy doesn't keep it real — though he's probably wishing that he had used costume jewelry on a recent video shoot.
The rapper, born Albert Johnson, was held up at gunpoint by two assailants Thursday night in Queens, N.Y, where, the New York Daily News reports, thieves lightened him of the jewelry he was wearing for the filming of a music video. It must have been a heavy load — he claimed that it was worth more than $343,000.
The 26-year-old rapper, one half of hardcore hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, saw his solo debut, H.N.I.C., debut on the Billboard charts at No. 18 three weeks ago, driven by the single "Keep It Thoro."
