Former 'Bachelorette' star Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes split
The two said they are going their separate ways "with mutual love and respect."
Just over two months after viewers watched them get engaged on TV, former "Bachelorette" star Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes have called it quits.
The former couple both shared the same statement to their Instagram accounts.
"It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate ways," the statement read. "We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently."
"We ask for kindness and privacy as we both navigate this transition," the two continued. "Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision."
Thurston said "yes" when Moynes, who had competed on a previous season and was a late arrival to her season, proposed on the season 17 finale of "The Bachelorette," which aired Aug. 9.
In their first interview after the show ended, Thurston told "Good Morning America" why she wasn't sure Moynes was going to pop the question.
"I truly, actually did not think he was going to propose," Thurston admitted, adding that when she looked at Moynes pocket as he approached her and she didn't see a ring box. As it turns out, he did have one; it was in a back pocket because the pants he was wearing were "too tight in the front."
For Moynes, he gushed that Thurston "was everything that I thought she was going to be and just bold and confident and just made decisions," which he found "hot."
When asked by "GMA" at the time if they were already planning their wedding, Thurston said they were taking their time but there would "no doubt" be one.
