It's the 'Circle of Life'! New star-studded 'The Lion King' is giving us all the nostalgic feels
We feel the love for both versions of "The Lion King."
This is us RN watching the new "The Lion King" in theaters!
Who would've thought that 25 years after the classic animated version hit theaters, we'd be singing along to a beautiful new version of the movie?
Seriously though, be prepared, because we are about to take you through some of the biggest gems in the 2019 photo-realistic version of "The Lion King."
A point of pride
The film starts the same way as the 1994 version -- by transporting you to Pride Rock with zebras, giraffes and lions galore.
But this time, you'll feel closer to the action, thanks to the film's incredible visual effects.
The voice of a king
In a true "Circle of Life," James Earl Jones reprised his legendary role as Mufasa, Simba's father.
Hearing him say "Simba!" like he did in the 1994 version has never sounded so cool.
New faces, same old faves
Of course, in the new film, he's joined by new additions to the star-studded cast, including Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner.
And the cast knocked the movie's greatest hits out of the park.
Eichner and Rogen, who portray Timon and Pumbaa, respectively, perform a full duet of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," and it's the true definition of friendship goals.
There might even be a few fun cameos from celebs such as Chance the Rapper, who portrays a bush baby in some scenes with Timon and Pumbaa.
Everlasting evil
In "The Lion King," you can't have light without darkness, so, obviously, we have to have ... Scar!
Mufasa's evil brother, voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor, will give you chills ... especially when he sings "Be Prepared."
We laugh in the face of danger, though, right?
We were dying from laughter any time the hyenas -- played by Keegan-Michael Key, Eric Andre and Florence Kasumba -- came on screen.
The lion queen
One of the most undeniable highlights of the movie is Beyoncé and Donald Glover's version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Talk about chills.
One major difference that sets the 2019 version apart from the original is Beyonce's new song, "Spirit," which plays in the scene where Simba and Nala return home.
It's just one of the many fierce, lioness-power moments that Nala displays in the movie.
Queen B curated the compilation album, "The Lion King: The Gift," which is also out now to fill your "The Lion King" needs even after you see the movie.
