Katie Holmes talks growing up with teenage daughter Suri
"It’s been nice that our ages fit," she shared.
Katie Holmes is notoriously private when it comes to her personal life.
But the "Dawson's Creek" actress, 40, gave a brief glimpse into her relationship with her 13-year-old daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise, Suri, in a recent interview with Elle U.K.
Holmes said she appreciated embracing motherhood early on.
"I was happy to become a mom in my 20s," she told the outlet.
"It's been nice that our ages fit… how do I put this?" she continued. "Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together."
She also spoke about why she tends to stay away from social media.
"I don't use [Instagram] that much and, if I do, it's usually just work geared," she said. "You can start to look at all these strangers and think you know them and there's no way that can encapsulate a whole person."
"You're just seeing a version of them and you always have to keep that in mind," she added. "It's just a picture. You don't know them. You don't know their past."
She said she prefers to spend her time "watching an old film, reading a great book, spending time with friends and family," opposed to living online.
"That is somebody else's version of me and I can't do anything about that," she added.
