May 19, 2008 — -- Well, it's been the challenge of the challenge. How would I do when work got it in the way? The last three weeks have fallen during "sweeps," a period when our ratings are evaluated to determine the cost of ads on the show. So there has been travel and strange scheduling and lots of reasons to get soft on diet and exercise.

And sure enough, I gave back some gains ... but that may be a good thing. Rob and Diane keep saying I look too thin.

I have made sure to exercise at least two or three times a week and to try not to compound problems, which is to say, when I can't workout, I try to eat well.

I also learned a few things: When you are tired, don't push too hard in the gym. Remember, the best thing for the body is rest. So when you are tired ... listen to your body!

I have become very interested in reading about different types of workouts, and the variety really helps.

As a former heavyweight lifter, I prefer the plyometric (body weight) driven exercises

Pullups

Pushups

Different leg movements

They give you fitness and shape without the added strain of moving heavy metal.

The interval runs are still the best part of the challenge for me. ... I feel I am a little faster than when I started.

And at almost 38 years old, that is a pleasant surprise keep going!
