During the event, Gomez spoke about her mental health issues and her commitment to making a change for others who may also be struggling.

"This has been the culmination of a lifelong dream for me, but it has also stemmed from some of the darkest moments in my life," she said.

She said receiving her bipolar diagnosis helped her to get "the knowledge and the answers" she said she had been "desperate for for so long."

"With that knowledge, I could seek out the support I needed to be myself, to find my joy again, and tonight I'm very proud to say that I have," she said.

The Rare Impact Fund is committed to raising $100 million over the next 10 years to increase global access to mental health services and education for young people.
