Oct. 9, 2008— -- It's nearing that time of year when the ghosts and goblins come out to prowl the streets from dusk 'til dawn -- that is, when they are not skipping up to the front doors of houses and asking politely for candy.

But there are some houses, and every neighborhood seems to have at least one, that even the scariest zombies and witches are afraid to approach.

They are haunted houses, the very embodiement of Halloween.

They are the ones in which every squeaking step feels like a prelude to imminent ghost attack and a distant scream always seems just a bit too close for comfort.

This year, "Good Morning America" and FEARnet are teaming up for the Home Is Where The Haunt Is contest to find the spookiest homemade haunted houses of them all.

The winner could take home $25,000 from FEARnet.com and, on Halloween, will be surprised live on "GMA."

So grab a video camera to show us why your haunted house should win and click here to head to FEARnet.com and enter the contest.
