February 13, 2009 -- Question: My partner and I have developed a rather ordinary routine for special occasions such as Valentine's Day. Do you have any suggestions for reinvigorating these special days?

Answer: Well, maybe it would be a better idea to think about it as Valentine's month. Because on Valentine's Day you're going to be competing with everyone else in the city trying to go to the same restaurants. So maybe it would be a good idea to think about and research what are all the interesting activities for the whole month and then maybe could plan something for sometime in February.

Then on actual Valentine's Day, you could, if it's not going to fall on Valentine's Day, have just a little ceremony or something where you talk to each other and tell each other what you've appreciated about each other for the year, what you love about each other. And your actual Valentine's Day celebration might be another day in the month.
