It’s the first Monday of spring and with the new season comes a new look.
— -- It’s the first Monday of spring and with the new season comes a new look.
Yahoo Beauty editor-in-chief Bobbi Brown appeared on “GMA” today to demonstrate three new makeup looks to usher in the new season.
Brown, who appeared on “GMA” as part of the “Yahoo Your Day” collaboration between “Good Morning America” and Yahoo experts, showed three models before and after their dramatic makeup makeovers.
The Looks
Bright Lips: The bright lip is popular on the runway and has appeared on runway shows for designers including Carolina Herrera and Missoni, Brown said. Celebs Margot Robbie, Emma Stone and Kerry Washington have been known to sport a bright lip.
Go with a nude face and a “little pop of blush on the cheek” if you’re going to wear a bright lip, Brown said.
Bold pinks, oranges or reds will brighten the face, but make sure it’s a matte lipstick.
“It should be flat,” said Brown. “It shouldn’t be shiny.”
Luminous Skin: Celebrities such as Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong’o and Katie Holmes have trademarked the luminous skin look, Brown said.
“When your skin is luminous, it’s just the cheeks,” she said. “You don’t want the forehead or the chin. That looks shiny.”
Use a shimmery powder or lotion, depending on the skin’s dryness.
Liner Play: Eyes can be made dramatic with the right liner. Think of looks by Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis. Brown said women are wearing more liner-minimal looks during the day and creating more dramatic looks for night.
“You want to be careful because you don’t want to look silly,” said Brown. “You just want to make it thick enough to see it. We’ve lined her eye with a gel liner and we’ve extended it at the end.”
