Obama speech kicks off Clinton Global Initiative event

— -- President Obama will kick off the annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting with a speech at 5:15 p.m. ET. The Oval will also cover this event live.

The president arrived in New York on Monday for three days of meetings around the United Nations General Assembly. On his agenda are some of the most difficult global problems, including climate change, the Iranian nuclear program and financial regulation.

After his time at the U.N., Obama will attend a summit of industrial nations that begins Friday in Pittsburgh.
