Trump Compares Campaigning to ‘War,’ Calls Bill Clinton ‘One of the Greatest Abusers’
Trump is continuing his attacks on Bill Clinton.
— -- Donald Trump attacked presidential opponents Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush today, saying that he views campaigning against them as "war" and called Bill Clinton "one of the greatest abusers of the world."
"I consider them enemies. We view this as war. Don't we view this as war?" the Republican front-runner told the crowd Wednesday during a campaign event in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
He also continued his attacks on Bill Clinton, which have escalated in the past few days, arguing that the former president is guilty of "tremendous abuse."
"The husband wants to come and accuse me of things and the husband is one of the great abusers of the world?" Trump said.
Earlier in his speech, Trump responded to Hillary Clinton's claims that Trump has a "penchant for sexism."
"Nobody respects women more than Donald Trump," he said. "When she said that -- I had no choice because I didn’t start it, I didn’t start it."
"I did have to mention her husband’s situation," Trump continued. "And that is now the biggest story on television by a factor of 10. We have to do it. You can’t let people push you around. You can let people tell lies."
On Tuesday, Trump brought up ghosts of Bill Clinton's past by invoking Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones, just as the former president prepares to hit the campaign trail with his wife next week.
Responding to Trump's initial attacks on Bill Clinton, Clinton spokesman Christina Reynolds said, "Though Donald Trump has pushed around nearly all of his fellow Republicans, Hillary Clinton won't be bullied or distracted by attacks he throws at her and former President Clinton.”
Trump also didn't hold back in hitting Bush on his poll numbers or how much he's spending on ads.
"He spent $59 million on his campaign and he is down in the grave. He is nowhere," Trump said of the former Florida governor. "Honestly, he should go home and relax. He shouldn’t be wasting his time."
Yesterday, Trump announced from his campaign plane that he will start spending a minimum of $2 million a week on ads for his campaign.
