— -- Former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver was arrested late Saturday night in Florida on a fugitive warrant issued in Nevada.

Tarver, 45, was wanted for jumping bail and failure to appear in Clark County, which includes Las Vegas. He was arrested by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, the Tampa Tribune reported.

The charges against Tarver were issued in June, WFLA reported. He is being held without bond on insufficient check and theft charges.

Tarver, who is 29-6 as a professional, gained notice as an amateur, winning a bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, and he rocketed to fame after knocking out Roy Jones Jr. in 2004.

In November, he came off a 1½-year layoff that included a one-year suspension for testing positive for steroids and knocked out journeyman opponent Mike Sheppard.
