— -- GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa's final college game didn't even last a quarter thanks to an ejection for targeting in Friday's 44-28 win in the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl.

The star junior, projected as the potential No. 1 overall draft pick in the upcoming NFL draft, was flagged for leading with his helmet on a hit to Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer on the Buckeyes' third defensive drive of the game.

Bosa tweeted an apology to Ohio State fans after his ejection.

The play not only negated an interception, but it also brought a close to his collegiate career even earlier than expected.

On Thursday, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer revealed that Bosa had already decided to skip his final season of eligibility, though Bosa had been waiting until after the game to make an announcement about his future.

"I'm going to wait until after this game," Bosa said on Monday. "All my focus right now is on beating Notre Dame. That's where it's going to stay."

Bosa didn't get a chance to keep his attention on the Irish long, and the last game of his three-year run with the Buckeyes would be largely spent in the locker room.
