— -- The Atlanta Hawks are planning to name coach Mike Budenholzer team president, a move that would result in the exit of general manager Danny Ferry, Yahoo! Sports reported Thursday.

Ferry has been on an indefinite leave of absence since September after making racially charged comments about Luol Deng.

According to the Yahoo! Sports report, which cited league sources, the Hawks plan to promote Budenholzer to team president while he also will remain coach of the team he led to the best record in the Eastern Conference in 2014-15. Wes Wilcox will become Atlanta's new general manager, the website reported.

A group headed by billionaire Antony Ressler agreed to purchase the Hawks in April for what sources say was $850 million.

The sale, though, can't be approved until the NBA Board of Governors meeting next week, meaning any front-office moves can't officially be made until then.
