Strange Clouds Form Over Cape Town, South Africa
Residents of Cape Town, South Africa, report strange sights in the sky.
— -- After an unarmed missile test-fired off the California coast Saturday evening, creating a disturbance in the night sky, the next day, Cape Town, South Africa, also reported strange sightings.
Cape Town residents captured images of what some refer to as "UFO" shaped clouds.
ABC meteorologist Daniel Peck said these clouds are technically called lenticular clouds.
“They are pretty common and pretty cool to look at,” Peck said.
“Lenticular clouds are usually associated with mountain ranges,” Peck explained. "The air is flowing, hits the mountains, rises and the cloud forms once you get past the mountain’s peak.”
Peck said these clouds are unique and were also reported in Texas earlier this year.
