Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has served on the United States Supreme Court since her appointment by then-President Bill Clinton in 1993. Only the second woman appointed to the high court, Ginsburg never missed a day of oral arguments due to medical treatment until a brief hospitalization in 2014 and then again in 2019, following surgery for lung cancer. Known for being a champion of women's rights, she also fought cases on gender equality and pay discrimination.
