1. Jeb Bush Releasing Giant Batch of E-Mails From His Years as Florida Governor
Jeb Bush says he is planning to release 250,000 e-mails from his years as governor of Florida as well as a new e-book -- perhaps the firmest indication to date he is moving toward a presidential run.
In the interview, which aired Sunday on WPLG-TV, ABC's Miami affiliate Bush said he plans to "make up my mind in short order" about jumping into the 2016 race.
"One of the things I am going to do as I go through this process is release all of my e-mails and write an e-book, which has been kind of fun to go back and to think about this, and remind myself that if you run with big ideas and then you're true to those ideas, and get a chance to serve and implement them and do it with passion and conviction, you can move the needle," Bush told WPLG's Glenna Milberg. "And that's what we need right now in America."
Bush said the e-mails would be made public early next year. He decided to release them, he said, in the interest of "transparency" and in order to "let people make up their mind."
2. Senate Passes Long Term Spending Bill, Avoiding Government Shutdown
In a rare Saturday session, the Senate approved a $1.1 trillion spending measure that would fund most of the government for nine months, capping off a week of high-stakes drama over the funding bill and avoiding any government shutdown in the near future.
The Senate voted 56 to 40 to approve the measure. The bill will now head to the White House for President Obama's signature.
The spending measure will fund the government, except for the Department of Homeland Security, through next September. The DHS will be funded through Feb. 27, a timeframe designed to give Republican lawmakers an opportunity to tackle Obama's executive action on immigration.
3. Last Sequential Date in Decades Becomes Big Milestone for Some Families
Two baby girls have defied the odds with a very unusual birth date.
At 10:11 a.m. on Saturday, Hazel Grace was born at a hospital in Cleveland and Quincy Kessler was born at a hospital in Billings, Montana, making their birth date and time 10:11 12/13/14.
And plenty of couples are headed to the altar Saturday to take advantage of the last sequential date in decades.
TheKnot.com said at least 20,000 couples had registered on its website to wed on 12/13/14.
One couple told ABC News the special date meant plenty of competition when planning their wedding.
4. Geminids Meteor Shower Lights Up Skies
The Geminids meteor shower was on full display early Sunday morning as some lucky stargazers caught the meteors streaking through the sky.
The shower happens every December when Earth glides into a stream of space debris left over from an extinct comet called 3200 Phaethon.
The meteor shower gets its name from the constellation Gemini. Meteors shoot out of the constellation, producing many fireballs.
5. Hayden Panettiere Gives Birth to a Daughter
It's a girl for Hayden Panettiere.
The "Nashville" star, 25, and her fiance, Wladimir Klitschko, welcomed their first child together on Tuesday, a rep told ABC News. They named her Kaya Klitschko.
"We are over the moon and madly in love," the couple told People magazine.
The pair shared the news of their engagement in October and announced the pregnancy in May.
