1. Gas Prices Climbing
Retail gas prices have been climbing upwards for the first time since April for the past three days, according to AAA. Prices have increased to $3.338 – slightly over a one cent increase -- but this could mean the trend of declining gas prices could be coming to an end.

2. Break in Heat Wave for Midwest
A break in the latest heat wave is forecast to hit Chicago and the Midwest tomorrow. It will be a hot weekend in the northeast but will get cooler at the start of next week.

3. Second Boy Dies From Faulty Cord Shock
A second boy has died after he was shocked by what investigators believe to be a faulty cord from a houseboat while swimming in a lake in Tennessee. A ten-year-old died at the scene on Wednesday. Both were shocked swimming near two houseboats.

4. Overcrowding Caused N.Y. Yacht Capsize: Experts
Safety experts say the yacht that capsized off Long Island on the 4th likely capsized because of overcrowding. Three children died.

5. Spam Turns 75
Spam – the can of pork shoulder and ham – turned 75 years old this month. The product's parent company is celebrating with a birthday bash at the manufacturing plant in Minnesota with a performance by the Temptations.
