'19 Kids and Counting' Star Jill Duggar on Why She Had a C-Section

Jill and Derick open up about how their birthing plan changed.

Now, the couple is opening up about why and that Jill had to have a C-section.

"She had labored for so long. There's no shame in that, there's no shame in not progressing, there's no shame in getting a C-section," Derick told People magazine.

The People magazine cover says she labored for 70 hours and the C-section took place after doctors advised the couple to move along with the surgery. Israel David, their first child, weighed in at 9 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 23 inches long at the time of his birth April 6.

"We told the doctor, 'Stitch me up really well,'" she said. "The doctor told me he has no doubt I'll be able to have a vaginal delivery the next time."
