'The Accountant' Crushes the Box Office Competition

— -- The weekend box office numbers have been calculated, and "The Accountant" is the top film.

The Ben Affleck thriller earned an estimated $24.7 million from Friday through Sunday to debut in first place.

Affleck plays an accountant who works for criminal organizations. Things get hairy when he takes on a robotics company as a client.

Kevin Hart's latest stand-up concert film, titled "Kevin Hart: What Now?" barely took second place after making $11.984 million -- just ahead of last week's box office champ, "The Girl on the Train," which collected $11.975 million. It's possible the two movies could switch places after the final box office numbers are released today.

The weekend's other wide release, "Max Steel," based on the Mattel toy figures, landed outside the top 10, after a $2.2 million debut.
