Adele: 'I Cried' After 2016 Grammy Award Performance

The British singer admitted there were many technical issues onstage.

The British singer is now sharing how she felt after the disappointing appearance.

"I cried pretty much all day yesterday," Adele said Thursday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

"In fairness, I would have cried if it went really well as well," she continued. "If it would've been a stand-out performance I would have cried as well. I always cry."

In a moment unseen to viewers, Adele, 27, said microphones fell onto the piano onstage. "Some people thought it was [Justin] Bieber rehearsing, but it wasn't him. We're on great terms," she noted on Thursday.

Adele said her performance, which was noticeably off after the incident, was a huge let down personally.

"I was embarrassed. I woke up the next morning to people in England, being like, 'We still love you! Don't worry!' And I was like, 'I didn't ask you if you still loved me but thanks!' I was so embarrassed," she explained.

She continued: "If it wasn't live TV I would have busted a joke, but because it was TV, I couldn't make it my own. I couldn't make the disaster my own."

On Monday, Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow explained a separate issue that occurred during the show: Engineers swapped the audio to a backup system, which caused a momentary break in the audio during Adele's performance.

Adele said that if similar issues happen in future performances, she has a plan.

"Next time I have any sound issues, I am gonna stop. I'll be like 'Sorry that's not working for me.' If we have time to do it again, let's do it, otherwise, bye!"

As for her actual vocal performance, Adele dismissed critics and social media commentators, who claimed she sounded out of tune.

"I'm always a bit pitchy anyway. I am! It's emotion! It's emotion," she clarified. "When I'm flat and I'm sharp, I'm just emotional, but it was fine."

To make herself feel better after the performance, Adele said she had a "burger and a beer."
