A Look Back at the Birth of Prince George

As Kate Middleton prepares for birth of second royal baby, a look back at first.

"I think the build up is not gonna be anywhere near the same intensity as around Prince George -- when he was born," royal journalist Robert Jobson told ABC News.

One reason is Middleton has already given birth to the heir to the throne -- George is third in line -- which makes this second child the "spare."

But that could change if Middleton, who is waiting to find out the sex of the child, has a girl.

"If it's a little girl I think it'll be hugely interesting for the media because it's a whole new story," Jobson said.

Middleton goes into labor and checks into St. Mary's Hospital in London.

It's a boy! William and Kate welcome a baby boy.

The formal birth announcement is posted on an easel outside Buckingham Palace.

Middleton's parents, Carole and Michael, make their first visit to see their first grandchild and declare him "absolutely beautiful."

Prince William's father, Prince Charles, meets his grandson for the first time and calls him, "marvelous."

As Middleton and Prince William leave the hospital with Prince George, they stop for their first family photo op and even answer some questions.
