Britney Spears Thanks Fans After Her VMA Comeback: 'Tonight Was Unforgettable'
The pop star posted to social media to thank her fans.
-- Pop princess Britney Spears took the VMA stage last night for the first time since 2007.
After an enthusiastic introduction by Kim Kardashian-West, Spears, in a sparkling yellow leotard, performed her single, "Make Me," with rapper G-Eazy and joined him for his song, "Me, Myself & I." She took to social media soon after to thank her fans.
"Tonight was unforgettable. Thank you #VMAs and thank you to my amazing fans!" she captioned a post-performance selfie on Twitter and Instagram.
Spears also thanked her backup dancers.
Though Spears seemed to be in good spirits after the show, the performance received mixed reviews. While many applauded her big comeback, others criticized Spears for lip syncing.
Not to mention that Beyonce can be a pretty tough act to follow. Spears' performance came directly after Queen B took the stage for a killer 16-minute recreation of her video album, "Lemonade."
Regardless, fans and critics alike seemed to agree that after a rocky few years, Britney is back.
