Britney Spears Talks New Album, Motherhood
The singer also opens up about motherhood: "Kids can drive you crazy!"
-- Between juggling her Las Vegas residency shows and being a mom to two young boys, it’s no wonder singer Britney Spears has no time to make an album.
In a new cover story with Billboard, Spears says new music is coming “slowly but surely,” but for now she has other things on her mind.
"There's a lot going on with my kids and schools and, you know, adding new sports and stuff like that,” said Spears, who’s mom to Sean Preston, 9, and Jayden James, 8. “I'm going to try to do my best to do an amazing album, but it's not my full priority right now.”
She added, with a laugh, "Kids can drive you crazy."
Spears, 33, reportedly has been in and out of the studio since September, recording new material when she has some free moments. She even confirmed a collaboration with Iggy Azalea that has yet to get a release date.
"Right now we're just concentrating on putting out a few great singles as they come," her manager, Larry Rudolph, explained. "We're not really talking seriously about a new album yet. Albums just aren't as important in the digital age as they used to be. Britney will get to one eventually, but not right now."
It has been two years since the release of her eighth studio album, "Britney Jean." In that time, Spears has stayed busy by performing nearly 100 shows at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. She’s officially committed to her Vegas residency through the end of 2015, and she and Planet Hollywood are in negotiations to extend her run through 2017.
