Conan O'Brien Live: Comic Announces Tour, 'Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television'
Conan O'Brien to tour the United States and Canada, starting in April.
March 11, 2010 -- It's official: Conan O'Brien's hitting the road.
Starting in April, the ousted former "Tonight Show" host will headline a two-month-long live, comedy-music tour. Titled "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television," O'Brien's tour kicks off in Eugene, Ore., April 12 before forging on to venues in at least 20 states and two Canadian provinces.
O'Brien won't be alone on the road: His longtime sidekick, Andy Richter, is tagging alone, as is the former "Tonight Show" band.
"It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house," O'Brien said in a statement released by his publicist today.
He also promised every show would offer "music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence."
He also announced his tour plan on Twitter:
"Hey Internet: I'm headed to your town on a half-a**ed comedy & music tour," he tweeted this morning. "Go to http://TeamCoco.com for tix. I repeat: It's half-a**ed."
Fans still leapt at the chance to see O'Brien live. Thirty minutes after his first tour tweet, O'Brien posted, "Alert! Teamcoco.com is jammed with too much traffic. If you can't get on, go to http://ticketmaster.com to buy your tickets. See you soon."
Ticket prices for the American Express-sponsored tour will start at $39.50. Today's announcement comes after weeks of speculation that O'Brien would take his act live since his exit deal with his former employer, NBC, prohibits him from making TV appearances until the fall.
