'Daredevil' Season 2: Everything You Need to Know About Season 1

What happened last season and where we are heading into season 2.

— -- Everyone is excited about the Punisher's introduction to the "Daredevil" universe, but Frank Castle needs to chill for a minute while we take you back and catch you up on season 1.

Season 2 is out today, so if you haven't seen the first 13 episodes from last year or your memory's a little hazy, we got you covered.

Here's the quick and dirty:

While the boys work to clear her name, Karen takes a job at the firm. That makes perfect sense, right?

Shortly after, Matt finds out that Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin (played by Vincent D'Onofrio), is behind much of the crime in Hell's Kitchen. But Fisk is a different sort of villain, one who believes in chivalry and thinks he's helping the city with his crimes. He's also part of a ring that includes members of the Chinese drug trade and the police.

Fisk is also unique in that he is self-conscious, shy around women, and you later find out that he murdered his father as a child because he used to beat on his mother. It's hard not to feel for him, though he does think taking innocent lives is the price for a better city.

Meanwhile, a journalist named Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) is investigating all the corruption for the local newspaper with the help of Karen (this will be important later, promise!).

Later in the season, we finally get our first showdown between Matt and Fisk, but Fisk handily wins because he is wearing some kind of thin armor that looks like a normal dress suit. While Matt is healing (Claire to the rescue again!), Foggy confronts him about being the vigilante Daredevil. It is here that Matt explains his powers, which includes sight to a degree (that "World on Fire" thing we mentioned earlier) and the ability to tell if people are lying by listening to their heartbeat. Their friendship takes a turn for the worse, and Foggy leaves the law firm.

Matt finds the man who makes Fisk's "special suits" and has one made for him, only it ends up being red, you know, like a devil.

Oh yeah, Karen kills Fisk's right hand man after he kidnaps her, and Urich dies when Fisk finds out that he was investigating him. After building up a case against Fisk in the last episode, agents are unable to keep Fisk contained, but the new Daredevil, suit and all, ultimately takes him down!

On the friendship level, season 1 ends with Foggy and Matt tentatively patching up their relationship, but things still seem strained heading into season 2.

Got it all? Good.
