'Harry Potter' Actor Devon Murray Reveals Battle With Depression
Actor shared his 10-year struggle with depression on World Mental Health Day.
-- "Harry Potter" actor Devon Murray took a bold step on World Mental Health Day and revealed his decade-long struggle with depression.
The 28-year-old actor best known for his portrayal of Seamus Finnigan in the "Harry Potter" films tweeted on Monday, "I've been battling depression in silence for ten years & only recently spoke about it and has made a huge difference #worldmentalhealthday."
The Ireland native went on to say, "I had suicidal thoughts this year and that was the kick up the arse that I needed! Open up, talk to people. If you suspect a friend or family member is suffering in silence #ReachOut to them. Let them know you care #worldmentalhealthday."
He also encouraged his 224,000 followers to reach out to someone if they were suffering themselves.
The response was overwhelming, with many sharing their own struggles with mental health with Murray.
Murray also thanked his fans for all their love and support.
Later, he shared his interview with Irish radio host Eoghan McDermott, in which he detailed his long struggle with depression.
Murray's revelation comes less than a week after hip-hop artist Kid Cudi told fans that he had checked into a treatment facility for "depression and suicidal urges."
