Hilary Duff Joins Tinder, Shares Her Rules of Dating
The "Younger" star shares seven dos and don'ts for dating. Plus see her profile!
-- Attention single men everywhere: Hilary Duff is dating again.
A few days ago, the "Younger" actress began using the dating app Tinder.
"I was sitting with my friends one night at the house and we were joking around. And in my life, I have always had really serious boyfriends. I've always met people through work and I have never been on a blind date," she said in an interview with the Valentine in the Morning radio show. "What's the worst that's gonna happen?"
Duff, 27, filed for divorce from hockey player Mike Comrie earlier this year. They have one son together, Luca, 3.
Now that she's back on the singles scene, the singer/actress shared a few of her dos and don'ts for dating:
1. Be yourself: Being a celebrity on a dating app can't be easy, but Duff isn't afraid to post actual photos of herself. "You only have your first name. Some people don't know [it's me]. I think some people act like they don't know but they do. And then a lot of people are like, 'This is a joke, right?'" she explained. She wants the people she's dating to do the same, and is excited to date outside of Hollywood. "I've never dated a total normie!" she said.
2. ... And hopefully that means showing a sense of humor: Want Duff to swipe right if she sees you on Tinder? Try writing something funny in bio. "[I go for] someone who looks like they like to do fun things and someone who can make you laugh in their profile," she said. (Hers says, "Let's eat pizza.")
3. Don't share that flexing selfie: Duff's not into those. "I don't want to see a shirtless, mirror selfie," she said. "That's instantly a left."
4. Do show off your best side: Like most people, looks matter to the actress. "[It] sounds super vain, but that is what you first go for," she admitted. "[And] natural chemistry."
5. Plan fun outings: Tonight is Duff's first date, with a guy named Tom. They're going bowling. For her next date with a man we'll call "Bachelor #2," she's going go-carting. "The best thing to do is go do something you've never done before or something kind of crazy," she explained.
6. Get in with her crew: Duff is bringing a few friends along to her date with Tom, and he's bringing a buddy too. "I still have my training wheels on!" she said. "I've been totally honest with him about it."
7. Keep your options open: The pressure is off tonight, because she's chatting on the app with other men too. "I"m talking to probably about nine guys right now," she said. (Sorry, Tom.)
