Grading the Gosselins: Checking in on Jon and Kate Two Months After Divorce

Checking in on Jon and Kate Gosselin two months after their divorce.

Feb. 16, 2010 — -- Thought the Gosselins were gone? Think again.

The famous-turned-infamous, reality-TV twosome, Jon and Kate Gosselin, are back in the news: he, because his ex-girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, is talking about, ahem, a part of their relationship; she, because she's coming out with yet another book.

Below, catch up on what's happening with the "Jon & Kate Plus 8" parents two months after their divorce became official Dec. 18. Weigh in on who you think has the upper hand in the now-broken relationship -- if either of them actually does -- by posting your thoughts in the comments section below.

Jon Gosselin

First, it was about the man. Now, it's about his manhood. Jon Gosselin's ex-girlfriend sank to new lows last week when she divulged details about Gosselin's nether regions to Steppin' Out magazine.

"He was so small I didn't think he would cheat on me," said Glassman, the daughter of Kate Gosselin's plastic surgeon. "It's so tiny, tiny, tiny."

Glassman, 23, went on to paint a picture of Gosselin's private parts that is, frankly, too lewd to be recreated here. That portrait got even more perverse this week, when a "source" told Steppin' Out that Kate Gosselin nicknamed her husband "Stubby" because of reasons that we will let you discern.

For now, it seems, Jon Gosselin has better things to do than engage in Glassman's gossip. Since splitting from her in December (a breakup that became all the more public when Glassman was connected with a break-in at Jon Gosselin's New York City apartment), he has been palling around with Morgan Christie, 25. In January, the two hit the slopes and the swag suites at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

And, of course, there are his eight kids. Jon Gosselin, 32, is reportedly trying to get TLC to start filming them again, despite the cease-and-desist production order he hit the network with in the fall. TLC hit back with a lawsuit, suing Gosselin for breach of contract.

Now, the dad needs dough, and a lot of it.

"Jon does not have money for the intense lawyer fees and ensuing battle with the media giant, and Kate has asked him to reconsider his decision for the family," an unnamed source told Fox 411. "She is willing to negotiate with him and TLC so that everyone gets what they want."

TLC declined to comment on reports about negotiations. But Jon Gosselin's lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, said nothing can happen until the lawsuit with the network is settled.

"We are hopeful that there will be a settlement," Heller said. "It is hard to tell right now if the show will be back on air. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we'll have a better sense of the resolution of all of this. And if there isn't a settlement, in April, there will be a trial.

"I know Jon's main concern from the beginning was the children's well-being, and that is still the case," he added.

Grade: B-. Gosselin gets points for not (yet) taking part in Glassman's gossip game. But perhaps he could spend more time honing a skill of his own to market so he doesn't have to rely on his children to make rent, and less time wooing 20-somethings.

Kate Gosselin

While Jon Gosselin's dealing with ex-girlfriend drama and a potential legal saga, things seem pretty rosy in Kate Gosselin's world. The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" mom is scheduled to release her third book come April: "I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family."

Kate Gosselin's previous books, "Multiple Blessings" and "Eight Little Faces," scored placement on the New York Times bestseller list. The upcoming one, featuring prayers and excerpts from her journal, as well as eight individual letters to her children, is poised to do the same.

"Each day the thought crosses my mind that when they get older, my kids are going to look back and think about how they were raised," Gosselin, 34, said in a statement this month. "I know they will have a lot of questions about things that may not make sense because they were raised so unconventionally. I don't want them to grow up and wonder; I want them to know without a shadow of a doubt how much I love them and how much every sacrifice made was worth it for them."

Perhaps questions that ask why that woman talked about daddy's private parts?

Kate Gosselin's personal life appears relatively tame. She spent a night out in New York last week with her hairstylist, Ted Gibson, who told UsMagazine.com that he "didn't think" the mother of eight is ready to begin dating again. Although a new man may be a ways off, Kate Gosselin is embracing her new faux hair thanks to Gibson, a good thing considering her blond extensions are worth $7,000.

Grade: B+. Kate Gosselin has largely stayed away from scandal and splashy publicity stunts since her divorce from Jon Gosselin was finalized after 10 years of marraige. But she, like he, continues to lean on the kids for support. It might be time to focus on projects that don't involve the Gosselin gan, such as launching an affordable line of hair extensions, perhaps.
