Kate Gosselin: Kids Devastated Without Show
Reality TV's most famous mom tells Barbara Walters about her tumultuous year.
Dec. 8, 2009 -- The reality of life without the cameras is setting in for Kate Gosselin and her brood of multiples.
Since their hit reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which chronicled Gosselin's life with husband Jon and their set of twins and sextuplets, was put on hold amidst the couple's messy divorce, Gosselin said the kids are devastated.
"They cried in the van on the way home from school the other day. I finally admitted to them, they kept asking, 'Where's the camera crew? Where's the camera crew? We miss them.' And I said, 'Our show is over.' ...Eight sobbing kids driving home from school," Gosselin said, during an interview with Barbara Walters to air on "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009."

TLC announced plans this fall to adapt the show to "Kate Plus Eight" after the Gosselin's separation, but husband Jon forbade the network from filming any new video of his kids, claiming the show exploited his children.
"Unless you live in my house and, and see how everything that we have done with the show has been such a great experience, you can't speak," she said.
Gosselin told Walters that her estranged husband took action to end the show "because he could."
The most famous TV mom in America also opened up to Walters about her tumultuous year and very public split from husband Jon. She told Walters that at this point, she would not want Jon back.
When Jon and Kate Gosselin separated amidst reports of Jon's infidelity, the divorce became a new kind of reality show -- her temper was criticized and his lifestyle attacked. The child custody battle unfolded in full view of the media – with photos of the couple and their children emblazoned on magazine covers.

Gosselin to Host New Talk Show
Do the kids know they're famous?
"That's not a word we use. I don't like that word," she said. "They watch DVDs of our show and it's family memories to them."
While TLC's cameras are gone, Gosselin's career in television is far from over. She's scheduled to do a new talk show next spring.
And while many fans think that Gosselin is a star, she describes herself as "a mom, first, always, foremost."
