Why Kim Richards Went to Rehab
The reality star confirms that she sought help and discusses her arrest.
-- Kim Richards is opening up about her struggle with substance abuse.
The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star confirmed that she went to rehab after her April arrest and said that it came at a good time.
"Relapsing was very hard for me," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I needed a break from what I was going through at home."
Three months ago, Richards, 50, was arrested for public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer after an incident at the Beverly Hills Hotel. In June, she pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to the Associated Press.
"My arrest was my 'a-ha I get to go away now and rest and take a break from all this," she said. "I don't want anybody to take this wrong, but I truly needed a break from hospitals, family, the pressure. I needed to go away."
"I went in and I got to learn a whole lot about myself," she added. "I dug deep into my past, things that happened to me as a child, good and bad, teenage years, relationships with all my loved ones, where they need to be mended, where they're very powerful. I worked on me."
