-- The wait is over, Little Monsters: Lady Gaga has revealed the release date for her fifth album.
Gaga confirmed details about the new album on Twitter: it's called "Joanne," and will arrive Oct. 21.
In an interview on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe, Gaga revealed that one of her collaborators on the disc is Hillary Lindsey, a noted Nashville songwriter who penned "Girl Crush" for Little Big Town, as well as Carrie Underwood's smash "Jesus Take the Wheel." As previously reported, Gaga's other collaborators include producer Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine and Father John Misty.
As for the album title, Little Monsters probably know that Joanne is not just Gaga's middle name, but also the name of her late aunt, who died at the age of 19 -- before Gaga was born -- from lupus. One of Gaga's tattoos is the date of her death. Joanne is also the name of Gaga's father's New York City restaurant.
The album cover shows Gaga standing sideways, wearing a large pink hat, with long blonde hair cascading down her chest. Her shoulders are bare, and you can see her tattoos. Compared to the cover of her last album, "Artpop," it's super-restrained.
