Lamar Davenport Indicted in Brutal Stabbing Death of Morgan Freeman's Granddaughter E'Dena Hines, DA Says

— -- Lamar Davenport, the man accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter, 25 times last month, pleaded not guilty today in New York to a murder indictment.
He has been charged with one count of murder in the second degree in the August death of E'Dena Hines.
“West 162nd Street was the scene of a brutal and shocking act of violence in the early morning hours of August 16th,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. said in a statement. “Beloved to her family and friends, E’Dena Hines had recently returned to New York City to pursue her acting career, but her life was tragically cut short before she could achieve her dreams.”
Police told ABC News that police responded to a call of a woman, later confirmed to be Hines, who had been stabbed 25 times times. The aspiring actress, 33, was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Davenport, 30, was arrested at the scene.
Hines was the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife.
"The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer," Freeman said at the time of the murder.
