Lamar Odom Will Not Face Drug Charges, DA Says
He had cocaine in his system when he was hospitalized in October.
-- The Nye County District Attorney's Office will not bring drug charges against Lamar Odom -- who was hospitalized for months after being found unconscious at a legal Nevada brothel.
Tests allegedly showed that the former NBA player, who was hospitalized in October, had "metabolized cocaine" in his system, according to officials.
A relative of Lamar Odom says the family is relived.
"Although the evidence showed Mr. Odom had metabolized cocaine in his system while he was present in Nye County in October of 2015, he was not found in the possession of cocaine," District Attorney Angela A. Bello said in a statement. "It is unlikely it could established beyond a reasonable doubt he actually ingested, or was impaired by, the drug during the time he was within the jurisdiction of Nye County."
Shortly after the incident, Odom, 36, was moved from a Las Vegas hospital to one in Los Angeles, and on Friday, he released and moved to a new facility. His aunt, JaNean Mercer, called his recovery "miraculous."
"Lamar continues to make remarkable strides," she said, "and we are asking that you continue to respect our privacy. Again we THANK ALL OF YOU GREATLY, your support has been paramount in helping to uplift us during these past few difficult months."
