Michael Lohan: Lindsay and Dina Are Liars
Papa Lohan on why he put out tape of Lindsay crying: she called me a liar.
Nov. 6, 2009 -- Those Lohans are unfurling their claws again.
Thursday, dad Michael released to Radar Online a recording (either a voicemail, clip of a phone conversation, or a combination thereof) of Lindsay sobbing to him about her breakup with DJ Samantha Ronson, how mom Dina doesn't care about her, how, quite frankly, no one cares about her, and more.
Later that day, Lindsay shot back via her Twitter feed:
"Its so sad that I even have to share this w/everyone, but I haven't had a real relationship w/Michael Sr. In years. That is the truth. Xox," she tweeted Thursday.
But according to Michael, his daughter is just telling lies, sweet little lies.
"That's a lie. That's a total lie," he told ABCNews.com late Thursday, in a conversation that was recorded, with his consent, for posting on this Web site. (CLICK HERE to hear the entire conversation.) "Everything they say, everything that Lindsay tweets on Twitter, I can prove to be false."
Including, according to Michael, her declaration that they "haven't had a real relationship" in years.
"That's a total lie. Every time she has a problem she calls me and I come out here."
Michael spoke to ABCNews.com from Radar Online's Los Angeles offices. The New York resident said he's in LA on "business" and to talk with the judge and lawyers involved in Lindsay's 2007 DUI case, for which she's currently on probation.
As for why he released the recording, which he claims was taped when Lindsay called him after her home was robbed in late August, Michael said he had to prove his credibility to his daughter, ex-wife and the world at large.
Michael Lohan: 'Lindsay and Dina Were Calling Me a Liar'
"Lindsay and Dina were calling me a liar," he said. "I just couldn't take it anymore. ... I was doing everything behind the scenes and no one wanted to respond and that's when I went public with everything."
Before ABCNews.com could ask the tough questions -- i.e., how exactly does Michael think releasing a private phone call will help his daughter, who he claims is in need of an intervention -- he realized he has to wait "three days before I can even talk about this" and cut the conversation short. Michael promised to talk more with ABCNews.com on Monday.
Meanwhile, late Thursday, Radar Online posted another tape from the Lohan family archives: a Sept. 2008 (according to Michael) recording of Dina describing to Michael how she tried to dump Lindsay in rehab:
"You don't even know what I'd go through trying to get her into, like, rehab and stuff," Dina says in the recording. "She'd like, punch me in the face, kick me out of the car ... like you don't know the s**t I went through trying to get her an intervention by myself. It was very difficult. She's really sad and really hurt and really ... despondent. I told her not to go to L.A. at 18 ... she did. I couldn't leave these other three to go get her and it was, like, a mess."
A mess indeed. The released recordings mark the latest additions to a mountain of misery for the 24-year-old starlet.
Last month, fresh off her breakup from her DJ girlfriend, Lindsay received harsh reviews for herself and Emanuel Ungaro, the high fashion house she's advising, at her Paris Fashion Week debut. Critics were unmoved by her designs, which include heart-shaped pasties and a blue bandeau bra. Lindsay looked less than luminescent on the runway, and partying in Paris she showed even more signs of wear and tear.
Perhaps it's over-stressing, perhaps it's under-eating, or perhaps, as Michael told Radar Online at the time, it's something far more more nefarious. Whatever the case, in his words, she seems to be covered in "a fungus." Maybe he thinks his latest move will get rid of the mold.
