The separation first happened in February after months of infidelity speculation on the part of Thicke, 37.
"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," Patton, 38, told People on Feb. 24.
Right after the split, Thicke went out trying to win his wife back.
"For those of you who don't know, my wife and I got separated a few days ago," Thicke said to the audience during a concert in Virginia later in February. "But you know, I want everybody here to know that I'm trying to get my girl back."
He later released an album "Paula" in July dedicated to his ex.
