'The Walking Dead' Midseason Finale: Who Died and Who's Back
Spoilers -- "He giveth and he taketh away."
-- You knew something big was coming on the midseason finale of "The Walking Dead" and that's exactly what happened last night on AMC.
SPOILERS AHEAD
First, let's get to the death.
The Greene family said goodbye to Maggie's sister Beth, played by Emily Kinney. As Beth ran up to say goodbye and kill her enemy with a hidden knife, Dawn shot her in the head and that was all she wrote. But don't fret too much, Daryl got his revenge and then shot Dawn.
TV Line spoke with Kinney about her character's untimely demise, which she's known about since August.
"I was very sad," Kinney told TV Line of when she found out about her character's fate, adding that initially when she got the script, she didn't want to read it.
"I think the writing throughout has been great, but I wasn’t ready for it to be over," she said. "I think the Beth character, in particular ... more could’ve been done with a teenager growing up [in that world]. I did not see it coming at all, especially this season. It’s weird, because I would’ve been OK with [this happening] in the second season or the third season, when I was like, 'Oh, maybe this character is coming to a close. What else is there to do with her?' But now I feel differently. ... I feel like there was still so much more to [explore.]"
Along with Beth's death, a character from the very beginning of the show -- Morgan -- returned.
You may remember Morgan, played by Lennie James, from the very first episode of the series and as the first person Rick met.
Morgan popped up last night in a post-credits scene, where we see him still tracking Rick and his people. If he didn't know who he was tracking before, he certainly does now. He finds his way to the church and, as he's praying, he stumbles upon Abraham's note saying, "The new world's gonna need Rick Grimes!"
