Actress Who Met With 'El Chapo,' Kate del Castillo, Speaks Out
The actress who met with El Chapo tweeted, "I look forward to sharing my story."
-- Kate del Castillo, the Mexican actress who Sean Penn said arranged his interview with Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman while the drug kingpin was on the lam, spoke out for the first time Wednesday on Twitter.
"I look forward to sharing my story with you," del Castillo tweeted, adding that "many have chosen to make up items they think will be good stories."
Penn described in an article for Rolling Stone that Guzman greeted del Castillo "like a daughter" when he opened her door for the interview in February 2014.
"He was interested in seeing the story of his life told on film, but would entrust its telling only to Kate," Penn wrote of Guzman.
Guzman and del Castillo corresponded via letters and "BBM messages," Penn wrote.
Del Castillo is best known for playing Teresa Mendoza in the telenovela "La Reina del Sur."
An agent for del Castillo has not responded to ABC News' request for comment.
